Murder-for-Hire Hearing Postponed for 30 Days

Attorney in case involving Ferndale resident wants more time to go through documents.

The preliminary examination for a Ferndale woman accused in an has been postponed for 30 days so her attorney can have time for proper discovery.

Fraser attorney Steven Freers said he was appointed by the court to represent Mallorie Louise Wilson-Strat, 24, just recently and hasn’t had time to go through any of the court documents yet.

“The prosecutor is still getting discovery items right now,” Freers said after the court appearance in 37th District Court in Warren on Thursday.

Wilson-Strat was arrested earlier this month along with four other people for allegedly conspiring to kill an Armada Township woman.

According to police, Wilson-Strat is suspected of hiring David Aaron Clark, 30, of Detroit, to kill the woman, who is married to Wilson-Strat's boyfriend.

Four other individuals, including Clark, have been charged in the case. The preliminary examinations for all five suspects were postponed until May 19.

The alleged plot was discovered by the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department when, police say, Wilson-Strat tried to have the Armada Township woman killed not once, but twice.

Police say Wilson-Strat tried to hire Clark for $1,100 to kill the woman. According to the sheriff’s department, Wilson-Strat drove Clark to the victim’s house where Clark then allegedly broke in while the victim was asleep with her three children, stole the victim’s purse and then left.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Department got involved on April 5 when an undercover detective from the County of Macomb’s Enforcement Team (COMET) began communication with Wilson-Strat after a Murder for Hire report was taken by the Armada Police Department and turned over to COMET.

Then an undercover detective, who was posing as a hit man, met with Wilson-Strat on April 7 to discuss the plan to murder her boyfriend’s wife. According to police, the detective was to receive $500 up front and $7,500 after the job was done.

Wilson-Strat then allegedly asked the detective to meet with her boyfriend’s sister, Christian Sears, 25, of Ray Township, and her boyfriend Bashar Mansour, 22, of Warren, on April 8 to make sure they weren’t going to be ripped off.

On April 11, Wilson-Strat and Sears again met with the undercover agent to present the down payment. After which, both women were taken into custody.

After arraignment, in which both women were charged with conspiracy to first-degree murder and solicitation of murder, bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety.

Mansour and Clark were also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and their bonds were set at $1 million and $500,000 respectively.

Bond amounts were continued for all five suspects until the new preliminary examination date in May.
