Man Robs Bank for Second Time, Ferndale Police Say

The man who and robbed again around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, police said Wednesday morning.

The man presented the teller with a note demanding money and implied he had a gun.

“The teller gave the man some cash and he left through the back door into the Withington parking lot,” Ferndale Police Lt. Bill Wilson wrote in a statement about the incident.

He was wearing a tan sweatshirt – not the jacket with a Super Bowl Millennium emblem that he was wearing in the other two robberies.

“He changed apparel for the latest robbery,” Wilson wrote.

The suspect is described as a black male with light skin, unshaven with stubble, in his mid-30s to 40s and between 5-foot-10 and 5-foot-11. He was wearing a light tan hooded sweatshirt with a green garment underneath, blue jeans, black gloves and black sunglasses.

Suspect considered armed and dangerous

Police said a gun was implied in all three robberies and the man should be considered armed and dangerous. People should not approach him and anyone who comes in contact with him should dial 911, Wilson wrote.

Wilson told Ferndale Patch last month that based on surveillance photos, police determined the same person who also attempted to rob the in November.

In photos from the first two robberies, the man is seen wearing a blue jacket with a Super Bowl Millennium label.

"If you look at the pictures, it's just the same guy," Wilson said. "The picture shows the same person."

Wilson said police believe the suspect may have a connection to the Ferndale area based on the locations of the robberies.

"We're figuring he's got to be local," he said last month. "Somebody should recognize him."

Rewards totaling $6,000 offered

Huntington Bank is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and Crimestoppers will pay $1,000 for information leading to an arrest for a total reward of $6,000, Wilson wrote.
