Man Robbed at Gunpoint at Ferndale Bus Stop, Police Say

No arrests have been made and police are continuing to investigate the incident, which occurred Nov. 15 near the bus stop on the north side of W. Eight Mile Road, west of Livernois.

A Detroit man was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in Ferndale last week at a bus stop on West Eight Mile west of Livernois.

Around 1:30 p.m. Nov. 15, Ferndale Police received a report that an armed robbery had just occurred near the bus stop on the north side of West Eight Mile Road, west of Livernois.

Officers interviewed the victim - a 20-year-old Detroit resident - who reported that he was robbed at gunpoint by two men at the bus stop. The suspects took $25 and the man's cell phone, according to a press release sent out Wednesday from Ferndale Police Sgt. Patrick Jones.

The robbery reportedly occurred while the victim was playing a dice game at the bus stop.

The man told police he had bought lunch at a fast food restaurant earlier that day and had counted his cash while at the restaurant. A group of teens who were outside of the restaurant when the victim was leaving talked him into going to the bus stop to play a dice game with them.

"The dice game went on for some time," the release states. During the game, two men approached the bus stop and one of them sat next to the victim and seemed to want to join in the game, according to the release.

"After several minutes the subject that had sat down next to him displayed a silver revolver and pointed the gun at the side of the victim’s head. The suspect with the gun made a remark to the victim that he knew the victim had cash in his possession," Jones wrote in the release.

Police said the victim and the gunman both stood up and the gunman repeatedly put the barrel of the gun into the victim’s mouth while demanding money. The victim threw $25 to the ground and ran away, the report states.

The others in the group ran away east from the scene while the two suspects ran south across Eight Mile.

A witness who was at the bus stop waiting for the bus reported that the suspects got into a red or maroon Pontiac sedan, possibly a Grand Am or Grand Prix that was parked on Stoepel on the south side of Eight Mile.

Police said another witness believes that the suspects entered an '80s red Ford Explorer or similar type vehicle parked on Stoepel that was driven by a black man in his 40s.

Police said both suspects were described as black males in their early 20s. The gunman was described as 5'10", around 240 pounds, with a scruffy beard and possibly a tattoo on his left hand, police said. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.

His accomplice was around 5'8", 220 pounds and had a scruffy beard.
