A 69-year-old man is charged with brandishing a firearm after police say he came out of his motel room wearing only a towel and pointed a handgun at another motel resident.
Around 4:15 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28, Ferndale Police responded to the Motorama Motel at 100 W. Eight Mile Road and met with a 47-year-old man who was staying at the motel who said he was just threatened by another man.
According to a news release from Ferndale Police, the victim said he was going to his room when a man came out of another room wearing a towel wrapped around his waist and holding a handgun.
Police say the man pointed his gun at the victim, yelled for him to get away from his car, and called him names. The victim ran away and called police.
Officers responded to the motel and called the man staying in that room - Arnold Parker, 69 - on the phone. Police said Parker willingly came out of his room to meet with officers and he was arrested without incident.
According to police, officers recovered a .44 magnum sem-auto pistol believed to be the weapon Parker held when he confronted the victim. Officers also recovered a Remington Model 700 rifle from the hotel room.
Parker was arraigned Wednesday in 43rd District Court on charges of brandishing a firearm, a 10-year felony. Bond was set at $1,500.
