Four Suspects Arrested on Charges of Lifting Items from Vehicles

All four were intoxicated and three of the four were minors, police said.

Ferndale Police have arrested four suspects in an attempted larceny from a vehicle early Saturday morning. Three of them were minors and all four were intoxicated, police said.

Magistrate Kimberly Wilson arraigned Dieter Buchholz, 21, from Royal Oak; Ayinde Anderson, 17, from Detroit; Britnay Crosthwaite, 20, Hazel Park; and Stephen Elliott, 19, from Ferndale, Monday morning in 43rd District Court on charges of larceny from a vehicle.

Ferndale Police Lt. Detective William Wilson said several officers had responded to a complaint at 12:49 a.m. to the area of LeRoy and Central. "Two callers reported seeing suspects in their vehicles," he said.

He said a group of three men and one woman were reported running east on LeRoy. The four were apprehended at Albany and Central.

"When officers made contact with the group of people, they found the suspects were intoxicated," Wilson said. "Three of the suspects were underage, so they were charged with Minor In Possession of Intoxicants."

Wilson said the suspects had various items believe to have been stolen from vehicles.

Bond was set at $500 for Buchholz, $1,000 for Crosthwaite and Elliott and $1,500 for Anderson. The bonds for the minors were higher because of the MIP charges.

"Ferndale has been experiencing a large amount of larceny from automobiles lately. Most of the crimes involve vehicles left unlocked, while locked cars are being passed by," Wilson said. "Lock your cars."
