The following items are from Ferndale Police Department reports from the week of Oct. 21.
Woman attacked by dogs
A woman and her two dogs were attacked by two large dogs around 6:67 p.m. Oct. 23, according to a police report.
Police arrived on the scene to find a woman lying on a front yard bleeding from her left ankle and right hand. She explained that she was walking her two small-breed dogs on leashes westbound on Pearson when two large dogs attacked her and her dogs, the report states.
The woman was knocked to the ground and bitten on her left ankle and right hand. Her dogs bit the attacking dogs, which were described as a white pit bull and a brindle boxer.
An officer took her two dogs into her home and transported the woman to the hospital for further treatment, according to the report.
Officers then spoke with the owner of the two large dogs, who said he came home from work and did not lock his gate all the way. He discovered his dogs missing after he changed out of his work clothes. The dogs reportedly ran back into the yard a short time later.
The owner stated one of his dogs suffered a severe laceration to her ear and was being taken to the vet. Police issued the owner citations for Dog Running Loose and Harbouring Vicious Animal.
Laptop, bracelet stolen
A resident on the 400 block of W. Hazelhurst came home from work on Oct. 29 to find her Dell laptop and a charm bracelet missing.
The incident occurred between 7:20 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to a police report.
Police spoke with the resident, who said she returned home around 5 p.m. to find her back door standing open. Several dresser drawers were pulled open and rooms looked like they had been searched.
Officers found that the rear door had been kicked open, the report states.
A neighbor told police she saw three males between ages 14-17 walking at a fast pace near the area around 2:30 p.m. and one of them was zipping up a backpack, according to the report.
Copper plumbing stolen from vacant home
Copper plumbing from the bathroom wall, kitchen sink area and basement were removed from a vacant home on the 400 block of Wanda Street, according to a police report.
Officers responded to the house around 8:17 a.m. Oct. 25 and found a window out of the frame of the home. The asset management group for the home was contacted and the home was re-secured, the report states.
