UPDATED: Power Mostly Restored in Ferndale

Nearly 1,000 DTE Energy customers in the city remained in the dark Friday morning; service restoration times will vary.

10:20 p.m.: Power had been restored to all but 27 DTE energy customers in Ferndale, according to the utility's outage map.

Friday morning: More than 850 customers remained without power Friday morning after fresh outages overnight added to those lingering from Wednesday, according to DTE Energy.

The utility company's outage map showed 859 outages, mainly west of Woodward Avenue between Nine Mile Road and Drayton Avenue.

"Some are from Wednesday evening and some of these are from last night; there's a mixture," DTE spokeswoman Erica Donerson said Friday. "They're all storm related."

Donerson said crews from throughout Michigan and Ohio have been working overnight for the past couple nights to restore power.

DTE's goal is to restore service by the end of Friday for consumers who experienced outages Wednesday evening; there is no set restoration time for customers who lost power overnight and they may be in the dark until Saturday, she said.

Crews will focus on restoring service in the areas with the most outages first, Donerson added.

"We're moving as quickly as possible," she said.
