Ferndale Police Release Man Held in Taft Shooting

A 17-year-old Detroit resident who had been in custody was let go as the investigation continues, Ferndale Police announced Friday morning.

The young man in custody who was believed to be the gunman involved in the at was released pending further investigation,  announced Friday.

"There is not yet enough evidence gathered, processed and organized to present the case to the prosecutor," Ferndale Police Detective Lt. William Wilson wrote in a news release Friday morning.

On Wednesday, , one of whom was released pending further investigation. The other, a 17-year-old from Detroit, remained in custody and was suspected of being the gunman in the incident, according to Wilson.

The 17-year-old also was released as of Friday morning. "The investigation continues," Wilson wrote.

Wilson could not be immediately reached for further comment Friday.

The Dec. 8 incident, in which , prompted the , which houses a variety of alternative education programs.
