Ferndale Police Officer Struck by Alleged Drunken Driver
The officer suffered minor injuries and has been released from the hospital, according to Ferndale police.
A Ferndale police officer was injured after being struck by an alleged drunken driver early Saturday morning.
Around 2 a.m. Saturday, dispersed a disturbance with a crowd at the corner of E. Breckenridge and Woodward. Police said one officer was walking across Breckenridge when a Dodge Durango turned from northbound Woodward onto eastbound Breckenridge.
The Durango headed for the officer, who signaled and yelled for the vehicle to stop; however, the Durango continued and struck the officer, according to a news release from Ferndale police.

The driver, 33-year-old Aimee Sturm, continued driving into a parking lot. Police stopped her and she seemed unaware that she ran into a person, the report states.
After further investigation, Sturm was arrested for operating while intoxicated. She took a breath test and registered .21, according to police.

The officer was evaluated and treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and was released.
According to the report, Sturm has no prior criminal or driving record. She was arraigned Saturday and bond was set at $750.
