Ferndale Police Investigating Early Morning Armed Robbery

Two assailants robbed a 27-year-old Ferndale resident early Friday morning at Nine Mile and Pinecrest, making off with victim's cellphone, wallet and $60 in cash, victim said.

Ferndale Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at about 1 a.m. Friday morning near the intersection of Nine Mile and Pinecrest.

The victim, a 27-year-old Ferndale resident, told police he was walking on Withington when two males approached him, Ferndale Police Lt. Detective William Wilson said.

One of the assailants pulled out a silver handgun, pointed it at the victim and demanded all of his property, he said.

The victim's cell phone and wallet were taken. The wallet contained $60 in cash.

"(The assailants) told (the victim) to take off south on Pinecrest," Wilson said. "He ran a few blocks to his parents' house and called the police there."

Wilson said the victim, who was intoxicated at the time, wasn't injured. The assailants were males and the one with the handgun had a button down blue shirt.

"We're investigating from all angles," Wilson said. "We'll check any video tape of nearby stores and we're asking the public for any tips."
