Ferndale Police Briefs: Fight in Parking Lot, Items Stolen from Garage

The following highlights are from Ferndale Police Department reports between Jan. 19-Jan. 22.
Items stolen from garage
A resident on the 300 block of Lewiston reported that someone kicked in her garage door and took an unknown amount of tools. The resident reported to police that the theft took place between 8 a.m. Jan. 21 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 22.
Police found that the side door—which had been deadbolted shut—was kicked in and there was heavy damage to the door jamb. The resident stated the tools belong to her son who is in the Navy and she was unable to list what items were stolen. There are no witnesses or suspects, police said.

Fight in parking lot
A fight between two groups broke out in the West Troy parking lot around 10:46 p.m. on Jan. 19, according to a police report. Ferndale police interviewed two people who said they were victims of an assault, and they told police the fight started after they accidentally bumped into two men. This led to an argument between the groups. One woman told police she was pushed to the ground and hit in the face, a man said he was punched in the face and another man said he was struck in the head. No arrests were made.
Police investigate K2 report
On Jan. 22, the parents of University High School student came to the Ferndale Police Department to report that their son had ingested an unknown narcotic over the weekend and had been irrational and possibly hallucinating, according to a police report. Their son had mentioned that he obtained K2 from a fellow student.

Police spoke with the principal at UHS, who identified the student their son had texted with. Police searched the student's locker with negative results. The student told police the text messages were about a cell phone case he was selling. The principal said he would follow up with the student's parents. According to the police report, the parents of the student who had taken the narcotics said this is possibly a psychiatric issue.
