Ferndale Police Arrest Woman Driving Stolen Motorcycle

Ferndale Police recently arrested an Ann Arbor woman who was reportedly driving a stolen motorcycle.

Around 11:50 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, a Ferndale officer made a traffic stop on a motorcycle and found the woman rider was on a stolen bike, according to a press release from Ferndale Police.

The officer first noticed the motorcycle stopped at Pinecrest and Marshall for a traffic signal. When the light turned green, the bike began southbound but was stalled out, the report states. The driver restarted it and drove southbound travelling about 48 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone.

When the officer approached the driver, she said that she had no paperwork for the motorcycle, according to the report. The officer was suspicious of her answers and discovered that the 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen out of Auburn Hills, police said.

The woman, 28-year-old Sareasa Shabazz, of Ann Arbor, was arrested. She was arraigned in 43rd District Court on the charge of Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Motorcycle - a 5-year felony - and bond was set at $5,000.
