Ferndale Police Arrest Prowler on Parole

Police found two men going through backyards Tuesday morning on the 500 block of East Chesterfield. Both fled from police and one was eventually caught.

Ferndale Police arrested a parolee on Tuesday morning after an extensive chase through the area.

Around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, Ferndale Police responded to the area of the 500 block of East Chesterfield on a report of two people going through the backyards, according to a statement from Ferndale Police Lt. Bill Wilson.

Officers responded to the area of Chesterfield and Hilton, where an officer saw one man emerge from the backyards and run east from the officer. He ran into backyards and tried to hide, but the officer found him. Police said the man again fled on foot and two other officers joined in the chase as the man ran south across Eight Mile Road and over the fence into the old State Fair property.

"He again tried to hide, but officers found him and arrested him," Wilson wrote in the statement.

The suspect, Daniel Todd Johnson, 24, of Detroit, was arraigned on a charge of resisting/obstructing police, a two-year offense, and faces penalties for violating conditions of his parole, police said. Johnson is on parole for convictions on charges of home invasion, larceny in a building and resisting police.
