Ferndale Police Arrest Parolee with Open Beer After High-Speed Chase

The driver was on parole for convictions including armed robbery, according to Ferndale Police.

Ferndale Police arrested a parolee on Thursday afternoon after a high-speed chase.

Around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, a Ferndale officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on Eight Mile Road. The driver of the speeding car pulled over onto Fair Street but sped off as the officer began to walk up to the vehicle, according to a news release from Ferndale Police.

The driver then fled through residential streets, ran stop signs, and drove recklessly until driving down a dead end that ran into a hill alongside the railroad tracks, in front of 1111 E. Eight Mile, police said.

The officer pinned the suspect in and arrested him.

The man, who was driving with an open beer, had a suspended driver's license and is on parole for convictions including armed robbery, according to the report.

The case has been turned over to the prosecutor's office for a determination of charges and the MDOC has placed a parole hold on Taylor. Arraignment is expected this Friday afternoon, police said.
