Ferndale Police Arrest Home Invasion Suspect

Police say the 19-year-old man confessed to a Nov. 1 home invasion on Edgewood Place in Ferndale.

Ferndale Police arrested a 19-year-old Detroit man on Thursday who is suspected of a Nov. 1 home invasion on Edgewood Place.

On Nov. 1, officers responded to an audible house alarm on the 200 block of Edgewood Place and arrived to find the home had been broken into through a back window. An X-Box, iPad, computer and jewelry had been stolen from the home, and a television was left in the backyard, according to a press release from Ferndale Police.

Officers recovered fingerprints from the scene which turned out to be from Anthony O'Neal, 19, of Detroit, the report states. O'Neil was on bond at the time and was awaiting sentencing for a home invasion in Detroit.

Detectives interviewed O'Neal after he met with his probation officer on Jan. 10. Police said he confessed to the home invasion on Edgewood.

O'Neal was was arraigned in 43rd District Court on Friday on charges of second degree home invasion - a 15-year felony. Bond was set at $5,000 cash/surety.

Wow the police actually took fingerprints? When my house was broken into they barely looked around and made me feel like it was my fault that someone had broken in. Glad this person was caught!

The FESC is an important steward of the City’s environmental values and goals, and its membersRead More have performed valuable education programming and environmental policy support on behalf of all Ferndale residents. It was clear, however, the FESC and the city needed to revisit the mission and vision to make sure the group was focused on activities that could make the greatest impact. I worked with the FESC to brainstorm a new mission and purpose ideas with members and helped rewrite the draft ordinance in a collaborative effort with FESC and city staff. I'm happy to say we've made steady progress; last night the city manager and I met with FESC members to review the new ordinance language, and the group's renewel request will come to council on June 24th. Together, we had a great meeting and I believe FESC members are excited about the clearer alignment between FESC interests and the City’s environmental goals. Yes, it did take a bit longer than anticipated, but in the end I believe we'll have a stronger direction for FESC for years to come.

Here is a great idea: Let's not have the city automatically water its lawns after two days of rain.Read More That would save water, reduce costs, and not contribute to increased storm water runoff.
