UPDATE: Ferndale Police Arrest 2 Teens Suspected of Robbing Man

Victim waiting for a bus on Eight Mile in Detroit was robbed of $5 and a pack of cigarettes Saturday night.

arrested two teens suspected of robbing at gunpoint a 54-year-old Southfield man waiting for a bus on Eight Mile Road of $5 and a pack of cigarettes.

Police responded to a Saturday night call from the victim at Eight Mile and Woodward Avenue, according to Ferndale Police Detective Lt. William Wilson. The victim described the two assailants to the officers, Wilson said.

Wilson said the victim was waiting for a bus near Eight Mile and Fair when he was approached by two males. "The 19-year-old pulled a pistol and demanded the victim's money," Wilson said. The other male arrested was 16 years old.

Wilson said the victim first began to fight for the gun, but then gave up the struggle and handed over his money to the robber.

"The thief reportedly took $5 cash and a pack of cigarettes," Wilson said. "Nobody was hurt."

The suspects were located about 9:30 p.m. walking southbound on Woodward, south of Eight Mile, Wilson said. The arresting officers recovered a .25 caliber pistol from the teens, he said.

Wilson said the investigation showed the robbery occurred in Detroit on the south side of Eight Mile, which is the jurisdiction of the Detroit Police Department. "The suspects were turned over to the DPD," Wilson said.
