Charmingly irreverent new comedies on DVD, to profound out-of-body experiences, impossibly awesome cookbooks with seemingly ridiculous recipe bases... Kathleen Hellenberg is an ideal source for recommendations, since, as a Page, her responsibilities take her all around the Library, to every shelf, section and medium, restoring returned items and keeping shelves in order. Naturally, her eyes pass over a staggering variety of subjects and authors.

One part of an alternate ending, shown in the special features, proves
above anything else in the movie, that, no matter how anyone else feels,
being true to himself as a very trusting, gentle, loving, open and honest
guy leads him to what makes him the happiest.

It took so long for Todd to believe his son, Colton, actually spent
time in Heaven while he was operated on for a burst appendix that much
of Colton's early sharing about what he experienced were discounted and
undocumented, so opportunities to ask him for explanations and details
were lost. Although Todd was the pastor of Crossroads Wesleyan Church,
it took years of listening to Colton's matter of fact statements about his
time in Heaven before he started to really believe them.
This book is more about how Todd experiences what Colton tells his family.
Instead of “A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back”,
the subtitle should be changed to “A Father's Journey from God as a
Concept to God as a Living Reality”.
CD FERRANTE & TEICHER – All Time Great Movie Themes
Art Ferrante and Lou Teicher were musical prodogies who met and started
playing together while studying at the Juliard School of Music. Early in their
careers they recorded their own compositions and light classical music, but
when they signed with United Artists in 1960, they switched to popular
music, especially movie themes and love songs. They were so popular between 1950-1989 that they sold more than 90 million recordings. Art Ferrante once said, “Although we were two individuals, at the twin pianos our brains worked as one.”
I'm not a fan of listening to only piano, but the lush string-laden orchestrations that accompany their amazing duets make their music one of my favorites.
DVD THE BRIDGE OF SAN LUIS REY DRAMA
Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Thornton Wilder, the movie stars Gabriel Byrne, Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, Geraldine Chaplin, Kathy Bates and F. Murray Abraham. These talented actors kept me intrigued, kept me wondering what this movie was about. The message of it is rich, but the actress (Pilar Lopez de Ayala) who portrays the central character did a poor job of embodying that richness, save for a few scenes.
View the movie as a “Cliff's Notes”, but then read the book, no matter how long it takes. I'll bet you'll find it time well spent.
NFIC PEANUT BUTTER COMFORT 641.815S
This book contains recipes not only for sweet things made with peanut butter like desserts, candies and frozen treats, but also savory things such as crackers, hummus and peanut sauce. It also contains instructions for making your own peanut butter, along with ingredients to make 27 different flavored varieties of peanut butter.
The recipe I'm most looking forward to trying is Vegan Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse, made with avocado, which the author writes is the plant equivalent of butter. When she brings it to parties, she doesn't explain that it's gluten and soy-free; she just lets their empty bowls speak for themselves. Yum!
