Ferndale City Council Honors Late Mayor Pamela McCullough

The city's first female leader passed away June 29 at age 60.

The Ferndale City Council was slated to pass a resolution in honor of former mayor Pamela McCullough, who passed away June 29 at age 60, during its meeting Monday night at City Hall.

McCullough was elected to Ferndale City Council in 1990 and served until 1994, when she was elected for a two-year term as the city's first female mayor.

"She will long be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and dedicated service to the residents of Ferndale," the resolution reads. "Pamela McCullough was a credit to her family and to her community, and it is with deep sorrow that we mourn her loss."

Current Mayor Dave Coulter said earlier Monday that many people have shared memories of McCullough's "generous and outgoing nature" with him since her passing.

"She loved the city and remained proud of her service," Coulter added. "I personally appreciated that she came back and joined the other former mayors for my swearing-in. She offered advice and support to me that was kind and reflected her continued knowledge of city government."
