Read about this week's Ferndale Patch Whiz Kid and nominate someone you think we should highlight next week.

Alexandria McDonald

  • Age: 8
  • School: Home-schooled; currently in third grade though Connections Academy online charter school program.
  • Accomplishments: Alexandria has all "A"s in her gifted and talented courses and she scored high on the MEAP test. She recently earned a purple belt in karate, and she also does tap, jazz and tumbling. Alexandria, of Ferndale, is a Girl Scout Brownie and sold almost 200 boxes of cookies in February.
Her mom, Carrie Muxlow, nominated Alexandria and said her daughter is an "awesome kid."
"Besides being a good student and participting in sports and Girl Scouts, she is also a very good sister and a trusted friend," Muxlow said.
  • Key to awesomeness: Alexandria says she likes to have fun and participates in activities because she enjoys them and because "exercise is important," she says. Alexandria also says eating breakfast in the morning helps her start the day right and achieve her goals.
