Need to Know: Clean the Ferndale Up on Saturday

It's almost time to "Clean the Ferndale Up!"

More than 70 people are signed up to participate tomorrow in Clean the Ferndale Up - that will bring volunteers together to clean, repair and improve public spaces or other areas that have been neglected, vandalized or misused within Ferndale.

The event, which is initiated by the , will take place from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday. If you haven't signed up yet, registration ends at noon Friday. .

Ferndale resident Matthew Nowaczok, a foundation board member who is heading up the event, said the community has embraced the idea.

"I am extremely excited about Saturday," he said. "The response from the community has been overwhelming."

Know Before You Go

Excited to get started? Here's what you need to know for tomorrow:

  • Sign in between 8:30-9 a.m. at .
  • Wear comfortable clothing and comfortable shoes.
  • A T-shirt will be provided for you to wear during the event.
  • Many of the activities assigned involve walking around in teams to pick up any garbage on the ground on the designated routes. Let organizers know about any limitations on walking you may have so that appropriate tasks can be assigned.
  • Volunteers will need to always stay on public property during the course of the event.
  • After the event, you can stop by or , where a special meal discount will be offered for volunteers.
