Veterans Day Tribute Monday at Memorial Mall in Ferndale

Major Clymouth S. Roos, USMC, will speak at annual observance honoring veterans for their service.

Major Clymouth S. Roos, whose service to the U.S. Marine Corps included deployments during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm,  will be the guest speaker at Ferndale’s annual Veterans Day observance at 11 a.m. Monday at Memorial Mall on Livernois, just south of W. Nine Mile Road.

The public is invited to attend the ceremony, sponsored by the Ferndale Memorial Association.

Major Roos is the USMC Armor Liaison Officer to the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Command (TACOM) at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan.

He has served in the Marine Corps for the last 24 years.  He began his career by enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1989.

After recruit training at Parris Island, SC and completing the School of Infantry at Camp Geiger, NC, he reported to Co L 3rd Battalion 23rd Marines as a Marine Corps Reservist. There he would serve for the next nine years as an infantryman.  During that time, he was activated and deployed to Southwest Asia to serve in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm from late 1990 to mid-1991.

He is 1993 graduate of Troy State University with a bachelor of science degree in economics. In 2005, he received a master of science in business administration degree from Boston University. In 2012, he received a master of operational art and science degree from Air Command and Staff College.

He and his wife, Karen, are residents of Ferndale.
