Sierra Club Beyond Coal Campaign in Troy Kick Off Meeting

Michigan’s DTE Energy is one of the most coal-dependent utilities in the country, and we’re paying for it with our health and our pocketbooks. Coal-fired power plants emit soot that leads to higher rates of cancer and asthma, and DTE’s reliance on outdated, dirty coal plants is making customers right here in Troy pay ever-increasing electric bills.

Michigan should have breathable air and affordable energy. Troy is in the center of DTE’s biggest service area and home to key members of DTE’s Board, the ultimate decision makers on a transition plan. DTE needs to hear that their customers and neighbors want DTE to invest in cleaner, cheaper renewable energy like wind and solar to transition away from dirty, expensive coal and nuclear.

Join us on September 18th as we kick off our campaign!
