Mac and Cheese; it’s a dinnertime staple
and kid favorite! Now, this delicious dish will help
benefit Justin’s Vision, a non-profit organization helping Michigan children
with life-threatening illnesses enjoy a carefree vacation experience with their
families, at the third annual Motown Macdown. Metro Detroit restaurant chefs
will compete for mac and cheese glory. Tickets are now available. Motown Macdown
competitors include Beans and Cornbread, Cacao Tree, Dino’s Lounge, Forest Grill, The Mac
Shack, Market Basket of Franklin, McShane’s Irish Pub & Whiskey Bar,
Rattlesnake Club and Sweet Lorraine’s Fabulous Mac n' Cheez!. Additional
participants are expected. Participating restaurants will compete in one or
both mac and cheese categories— Traditional with a Twist and the Specialty
category, including gluten-free, veggie or vegan mac and cheese, doubling the
cheezy competition categories from last year. The People’s Choice Award will
also be given to the mac and cheese crowd favorite. Christy McDonald, Emmy
award winning Detroit news anchor and reporter, will emcee the event featuring
an all-star line-up of local celebrity judges and entertainment from
DetroitR&B band The Infatuations. Chazzano Coffee, Ethel's Edibles, Just
Baked, The Panini Press, Peteet's Cheesecake, Sahara Restaurant, Slow Jams and
Treat Dreams are supporting the cause by treating guests to their unique menu items
and desserts to compliment all the mac and cheese. An exclusive VIP Party,
catered by The Melting Pot and hosted by Gnyp from 93.9 The River, will be from
5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Royal Oak Music Theatre’s upper level. The Motown
Macdown will also include a silent auction for guests including signed sports
memorabilia, with all proceeds benefiting Justin’s Vision. Tickets are $35 each
and can be purchased by visiting royaloakmusictheatre.com or calling the
Royal Oak Music Theatre at 248-399-2980. Early bird tickets are available
through October 31 for $25 each. VIP tickets can be purchased for $75 each.
Additionally, guests can purchase tickets at the door for $40 each.
