Have a Heart For Hunger Empty Bowls Charity Event

Strict Discipline Academy – located in Highland Park, Michigan will host its
Fifth Annual Empty Bowls Event at the Boll YMCA located in Downtown Detroit, on
February 13th, 2014. The event will begin at 5:00 pm with a special
presentation at 6:00pm. Empty Bowls is an international project organized to
fight hunger. On a community-by-community basis, artist and art organizations
personalize and design handmade bowls for the cause. $10 donation includes
soup, and a handmade bowl created by the young men of ACE Academy.


At ACE Academy, Empty
Bowls takes on an added significance, as it is not just about feeding physical
hunger, but a hunger within. The ACE Academy students are adjudicated youth who
create these bowls as a service project. For many of them, it might be the
first time they have had the opportunity to serve their community or be of
service to others. All proceeds from the ACE Academy Empty Bowls Event are
donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank.
