Ferndale Seniors Lend a Helping Hand

On Thursday,

January 30th, the seniors of Ferndale will present Bedside Healers

with a check to donate

Bedside Healer™ bears to Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak or the VA Ann Arbor

Health System. Bedside

Healers™ are unique and innovative stuffed animals with Velcro straps that

patients can easily attach to beds, IV poles, wheelchairs, etc.

The check will be

presented at a special event on Thursday at Dino’s in Ferndale, 22740 Woodward Ave. In December, the

Ferndale Senior Group sponsored a cookie drive during which they went bar to bar selling cookies

baked by members. Ferndale Councilman Greg Pawlica accompanied member Virginia

Saxton and President of the Senior Group, Jeanne Davis. Dean Bach, owner of

Dino’s opened his restaurant for the cookie sale and will be hosting Thursday’s

event.

Bedside Healers
is a local company, founded two years ago by metro Detroit resident Jason Peach
following his father’s extended hospital stay. Since then, Bedside Healers has
donated nearly 1,400 of these stuffed animals to hospitals throughout the
country. The company is also host to an online site, The Community, where
people who are sick, have been sick, or are taking care of sick people, can
come together to communicate and support each other. It is the company’s next
step in its mission to “always be there.”
