The workshop’s goal is to take a sketch or finished pencild drawing and use inking techniques to make the image ready for print, or just to make the drawing look more polished.

Examples from professional artists will be analyzed, and students will

have the opportunity to ink prepared drawings, so they will leave the classes
with new, finished work.

Class 1: Techniques involving tech pens and quills will be covered.  Shading and texture will be the primary focus.

Class 2: Techniques involving brushes will be introduced, and incorporating pens and quills into those techniques will be encouraged.  Other tools and techniques will also be touched on, such as inkwash, splatter effects, and the use of secondary inking tools like toothbrushes, white-out, sponges and paper towels will be covered too.

Ted is a comic book artist based in Ypsilanti, Michigan.  He self-publishes his own comic ‘The Book of

Love’, and does freelance work for the companies such as Cryptozoic, Shot in
the Dark Comics, and Fubar.  He graduated

with a BFA in Sequential Art from Savannah College of Art & Design and sells

his books and artwork at comic conventions across the country.
