This Week in Ferndale: First Annual Zombie Walk and More
Get ready for the week ahead in Ferndale with these five things to know.
1. Scarecrow contest
Rosie's Scaring for Caring is a contest going on now at Rosie O'Grady's in Ferndale where charities submit a scarecrow and customers can vote for the best one by putting a dollar in the bucket of the scarecrow they like best. All proceeds go to the charities. The Ferndale Golden Eagle Marching band has entered a scarecrow and is hoping to win $500 for the band.
2. City Council meeting
Ferndale City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. You can view the agenda here.
3. Roosevelt School tour
Families with a child starting kindergarten in 2013 can get ready for next fall with a tour of Ferndale's Roosevelt Primary School at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24. Learn about early literacy, student achievement, school routines, and more. Other tour dates available - get all the details here.

4. Zombie Walk
New Way Bar is hosting Ferndale's First Annual Zombie Walk on Friday, Oct. 26. Sign up at 7:30 p.m., walk begins at 8 p.m. Cost to participate is $5 for adults; children under 12 free. Proceeds will benefit Ferndale Youth Assistance. The event will also include live entertainment. For more information, call 248-541-9870.
5. Downtown Ferndale trick-or-treating
Trick or Treating in Downtown Ferndale will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27. Costumed kids are welcome to stop by downtown Ferndale merchants to get a treat. For more information, call the Ferndale DDA at 248-546-1632.
