UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warning is Canceled

OK, all clear. Those nasty storms have moved out of the area. Stay tuned; there are sure to be more at this time of year.

Updated, 6:42 p.m.: The severe thunderstorm warning has been canceled.  You may still need your ponchos, but the severe storms have moved out of the area. 

Earlier: Get your ponchos out because the National Weather Service in Pontiac has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for 17 counties in southeastern Michigan, including Oakland County, until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

During a severe thunderstorm watch, conditions are favorable for development of severe weather, reports the National Weather Service.

If a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the National Weather Service advises residents to stay indoors and away from areas with loose items that could become flying debris.

Rain and storms are expected to continue Thursday and Friday.
