Here Comes the Snow and Cold

Ferndale could get a total of 5 to 9 inches of snow through Sunday night with subzero wind-chill temperatures to follow.

You don't need us to tell you it's snowing, but we're going to anyway.

So get out your snowblowers or dust off those shovels because we're about to get a lot of snow — and some really cold temperatures and wind.

The National Weather Service issued winter storm warnings for Oakland and Wayne counties. Oakland County was expected to get 5 to 9 inches of snow by Sunday night, and Wayne County was expected to get about 3 to 6 inches.

The snow was coming down hard Sunday afternoon, with 1 to 3 more inches expected on top of what had already fallen earlier in the day.

Temperatures are expected to drop throughout the night, and winds are expected to pick up, according to the NWS warning, slamming us with subzero wind-chill temperatures. Combined with the heavy snow, that will result in hazardous roads and low visibility throughout the night.
