Family best bets for the week ahead:

Why go: For children ages birth to 24 month and their parent or caretaker. It’s a good opportunity to go out with your baby and to meet other children and their adults.

Great Marshmallow Drop

Why go: It’s a twist on the egg hunt. Children and their parents watch as 15,000 marshmallows drop from a helicopter. Then children age three and older can collect the marshmallows to turn them in for a prize-filled egg. Only one marshmallow is needed to collect a prize. There are three age groups: 4 & younger, 5 & 7, 8 & older.

Where: Catalpa Oaks County Park, 27725 Greenfield Road, Southfield

When: 10 a.m. Friday

‘Diego and Dora 4-D Adventure’ and ‘Planet Earth: Shallow Seas 4-D Experience’

Why go: Your kids will love the 4-D features (smells and water sprays) and the 3-D features of the movies. You’ll feel that you’re catching the Robot Butterfly along with Dora & Diego and you’ll feel you are surfing with the dolphins and diving with the sea lions in Planet Earth.

Where: Ford Education Center, Wild Adventure 3-D/4-D Theater at the Detroit Zoo.

When: The movies are scheduled when the zoo is open and run until the end of the year. The movies alternate and you can find out at the Main Entrance when each movie is playing.

Cost: $4 on top of zoo admission.

What else: The train starts on May 1. Stay and visit some animals too.

Bunnyville

Why go: The annual spring celebration features costumed characters, whisker painting, animal enrichment, zookeeper talks, treats, prizes, crafts and photo stations with the opportunity to visit the Easter Bunny, as well as The Bunny Follies – a live mini-musical at noon, 1 2 and 3 p.m. and the Main Picnic Grove and Two of a Kind- a singing duo at 11 a.m., 1 and 2 p.m. in the Wildlife Interpretive Gallery

Where: , 8450 West Ten Mile Road, Royal Oak

When: 9 a.m. -4 p.m. Saturday

Cost: For non-members, admission is $5 with a canned food donation to Gleaners Food Bank. Members are free, with a canned food donation.
