Ferndale 'Green Week' Kicks Off Today With Butterfly Garden Discussion

A discussion about butterfly gardens will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the Ferndale Public Library as the first event of the city's weeklong "earth celebration."

Ferndale's starts today with "Butterfly Day."

The Ferndale Beautification Commission will present a discussion on butterfly gardens from 7-9 p.m. at the .

The event is part of the weeklong "earth celebration" organized by the Ferndale Environmental Sustainability Commission along with support from the , the local business community and other area organizations.

Douglas Christie, chair of the Ferndale Environmental Sustainability Commission, said the butterfly garden discussion will include information on what to do to attract butterflies to your garden.

"Lots of people love to have butterflies around and they of course pollenate their flowers and help their flowers bloom," he said.
