Power Expected Back Today for Remaining Customers, DTE Spokesman Says

DTE and out-of-state crews are working to restore power to the remaining customers without it today, spokesman said.

Some Ferndale and Pleasant Ridge residents are still without power nearly four days after a violent storm blew through the area on Saturday, pulling down trees and knocking down wires and leaving as many as 7,000 people without power.

However, according to DTE Spokesman Scott Simons, the customers still without power should be fully restored by sometime Wednesday. Simons said there are nearly 1,000 customers in the DTE service area still without power and a number "somewhere less than that" still without power in Ferndale.

Simons said that the DTE outage map, which states there are 796 in Ferndale and 159 in Pleasant Ridge still without power, is inaccurate.

"We still have all of our crews from out of state here working until the last customer is restored," he said.

Simons said DTE pulled in 80 out-of-state crews to work on the damage that the storm, which had 70 mph winds, brought to the area. As many as 7,000 customers were without power on Saturday night when the storm hit.

Simons said crews came from Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

DTE Energy will be at City Hall, at 300 E. Nine Mile Road, from residents might have about the restoration effort and the outage.
