DTE Hopes to Restore Power to Ferndale by Late Evening

Power outage was due to storm, spokesman says.

The power went out for about 2,700 residents Monday evening and it isn't expected to be back on until late tonight, DTE Energy says.

"We're not certain of the actual time. Our hope is for 11:30 tonight," DTE spokesperson Alejandro Bodipo-Memba said Tuesday morning.

Nearly all of the Ferndale residents affected live east of Hilton, running the length of Ferndale.

The power outage was part of the fierce weather that blew through the area earlier in the day, Bodipo-Memba said. "This is storm related," he said.

Residents reported via Ferndale Patch's Facebook page and Twitter feed that they had heard transformer explosions before the power outage.
