DTE Brings in Portable Generator to Power Ferndale

Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter said the DTE Energy was shipping in a portable generator to power the customers connected to the West Nine substation.

The number affected by the power outage in Ferndale dropped over night from nearly 6,000 about 3,700.

To get the rest of Ferndale back online, DTE Energy, according to Mayor Dave Coulter, is bringing in a portable generator that would do the power of the West Nine Mile and Dover substation.

The substation at West Nine holds two transformers. Initially, there was a problem with one transformer. When that blew, DTE put more power on the second one. DTE Spokesman John Austerberry told Ferndale Patch last night that the second transformer, from the stress, then went down.
