Ferndale Community Foundation President Announces Campaign for Council Seat

President of the Ferndale Community Foundation Dan Martin announced Tuesday night at Dino's Lounge that he will run for Ferndale City Council.

Ferndale Community Foundation President Dan Martin announced that he will seek a seat on Ferndale's City Council in the Nov. 8 election.

The announcement came in front of friends, family and supporters at on Tuesday evening.

Mayor Pro Tem Kate Baker and Councilman Mike Lennon are up for reelection in November, as well as the mayor's seat. Baker was in attendance, along with Mayor Dave Coulter, Councilwoman Melanie Piana and Oakland County Commissioner Craig Covey.

As of Tuesday afternoon, only two people had requested council nomination packets and one for mayor. Martin and resident Sherry Wells requested packets for Council and Ray Willis requested a packet for mayor.

However, neither are on the ballot yet. Those running for council or mayor must turn in a petition of no fewer than 100 signatures and no more than 150 signatures. Candidates have until Aug. 16 to complete and turn in their nomination packets.
