CLEAR to Host Open Meetings Act Event

Eleanor "Coco" Siewert, an expert in the Open Meetings Act and parliamentary procedure, will speak at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Ferndale Public Library.

The Open Meetings Act will be the topic of an event next week hosted by local political action committee CLEAR.

The event, held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8 at the Ferndale Public Library, will feature speaker Eleanor “Coco”  Siewert.

"Ms. Siewert is a renowned expert in parlimentary procedure and the Open Meetings Act," said CLEAR member Robin Hanks. "The presentation is open to all and should be helpful to anyone interested in learning more about how to properly run a welcoming meeting."

Siewert will speak about meeting procedures and transparency, which has been a focus of CLEAR since the group was formed earlier this year.

Siewert - a Professional Registered Parliamentarian with the National Association of Parliamentarians - served two terms as the mayor of Birmingham and has a Master’s degree in Dispute Resolution from Wayne State University.

Her expertise includes construction of agendas, proper procedures for conducting meetings, preparation of minutes, and writing and implementing bylaws.
