5 Things You Should Know This Week in Ferndale

  1. Construction begins Monday, May 20, on the "How the West was One" project along West Nine Mile Road, the Ferndale Downtown Development Authority says.
  2. State Sen. Vincent Gregory and Rep. Ellen Lipton, both of whom represent Ferndale, will hold coffee hours Monday, May 20, to discuss the state budget and consitutents' concerns. The Democrats will be available from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Oak Park Recreation Building in Oak Park. Gregory also will be available from 1-2 p.m. at the Southfield Public Library.
  3. A planning meeting for Ferndale Pride will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Affirmations. The annual street festival will take place June 1.
  4. The Mother & Son Tigers Game will be held Saturday, May 25, departing from the Kulick Center at 2:15 p.m. A $25 fee includes a picture, hot dog, chips, drink, ticket and transportation.
  5. Toast has reopened after being closed for renovations last week. The breakfast and lunch joint has new turquoise walls, a vintage look at the counter and a bright, funky mural.
