5 Things to Know This Week in Ferndale
Get ready for the week ahead in Ferndale with these five things to know.
1. Transit of Venus is Tuesday
just as the moon did on May 20. The next Transit of Venus won't be until Dec. 11, 2117. A group of residents will meet at the Ferndale Public Library from 6-7 p.m. to watch the NASA live feed and then host a science fiction book club session - find more information on the event here.
2. Preschool Enrollment
Ferndale Schools are enrolling now for preschool programs beginning in the fall. Preschool options include the Little Eagles Preschool at Harding Administration Center, programs at Grant Early Childhood Center, and a First Fives pre-kindergarten program for 4-year-olds and "young fives." or contact the district Enrollment Office at 248-586-8686.
3. Ferndale Recreation Youth Programs
Registration is ongoing for a variety of youth programs offered through Ferndale Recreation, including summer drama camp, British Soccer Camps, basketball camps and baseball camps. For more information or to register for programs, visit www.ferndalerecreation.org.

4. Relay for Life of Ferndale
The is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9 at the track. The relay, which raises money for American Cancer Society, so far has 290 participants, 26 teams and the group has raised a total of $39,195. There's still time to get involved by joining a team, fundraising or donating. For more information, call 248-663-3412 or visit the relay's official website.
5. 'Moo Poo' Football Fundraiser
In this , the football field is divided into 2-yard by 2-yard plots and students sell "deeds" for each plot. At 12 p.m. on Saturday, two cows will be brought out onto the field. If a cow poops on your spot, you win one of three cash prizes.
