We are pleased to present the 19th annual Ferndale Woodward Dream Cruise, on Aug. 15, 16 and 17, where thousands will take part in the fun and excitement, brought to you by Ford Motor Company. Whether you’re strolling along enjoying emergency vehicles, listening to the horsepower of a Ford Mustang or groovin' to the sounds of Rock’n Live Entertainment, downtown Ferndale is the place for a great time spent with family and friends.
Here is a synopsis of this year’s activities:
Thursday–Saturday, Aug. 15-17:
West Nine Mile Road is where all the festival action takes place, featuring the Kid’s Play Zone, Rock’n Live Entertainment, Food Court and vendors ─ plus (exclusively on Saturday) a display of several historic Ford Model T’s and an exhibit of Henry Ford’s 150 Years.
Throughout the three-day event, official Woodward Dream Cruise merchandise will be available to purchase collectible items. We’ll have T-shirts, lapel pins, baseball caps, magnets and posters, plus an official Ferndale Dream Cruise event T-shirt and the “Cruis’n Bulldog” stuffed animal.
Friday, Aug. 16:
The 13th Ferndale Emergency Vehicle Show will feature classic and new police, fire, ambulance, county and state vehicles from across Metro Detroit and Canada.
The official 2013 Woodward Dream Cruise ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off the world’s largest car cruiser event, now in its 19th year, featuring special guest speakers, including Mrs. Michigan America Laura Zdravkovski, followed by the crowd pleasing “Lights & Sirens Cruise.” All these activities will be taking place on East Nine Mile.
Saturday, Aug. 17:
This day will be full of automotive action, highlighted by the 15th Annual Mustang Alley, starting at 10 a.m. and comprised of nearly 800 classic, restored, custom and new Ford Mustangs, from Woodward to Hilton, on East Nine Mile Road. On West Nine Mile Road, the 3rd Annual Michigan Gumball Rally will be providing additional automotive excitement with plenty of sports cars, movie and television vehicles and imagination.
History ... the Woodward Dream Cruise began in 1995 by Ferndale resident (Mr. Nelson House) and a dedicated group of volunteers. Since then, the dream has grown into a 16-mile radius cruise along the historic Woodward Avenue, involving nine participating municipalities and becoming known as the “world’s largest car cruiser event."
As the founding community of the Woodward Dream Cruise, we are proud to continue the dream made possible with the assistance of over 60 dedicated volunteers. We work hard to create an environment that is fun and safe for everyone to enjoy and participate.
