Keeping It Short

Short blog from your resident, injured, preschool dad.

I'm going to keep the blog short for the next couple days.  Not for lack of content, but because I injured myself and it's making typing a bit of a chore.  I'm down from my general 75 wpm with no mistakes to a new 60 wpm with mistakes.  That's what I get for not being a hunt and peck kinda typer.

Lilah has been super at school, but she has been having the issue of laying down during story time.  I'm sure things are confusing for her on that count, so we told her we'd make a deal.  If she sat through story time today and didn't lay on the carpet, she would get to have tea this evening with Felicity, Allison's American Girl doll.  I asked and it must have been the right deal because Mrs. Wilson said Lilah was great and didn't lay down once, though she did say Lilah told her "My daddy put these shoes on me, but I don't want to wear them."  And then tried to take them off.  I can't blame her, I'm not a big fan of wearing my shoes during story time either.

It's been interesting seeing the difference between Lilah when I drop her off and pick her up.  When it comes time for me to go, she generally asks "Aren't you leaving?"  And sends me on her way.  Most likely, she doesn't want to be embarrassed by her old square dad around all her new friends (kidding.)  Then, when I return to pick her up, she runs into my arms, holds me fast (cuz I'm a hopeless wanderer) and says she missed me.  I would be lying if I said I didn't love it, but it's just interesting to see.

That's really all for now.  We look forward to Thursday which, despite the weather, is beach party day.
