Weekend Planner: Free Comic Book Day, Student Art on Display and More

1. Free Comic Book Day

in Ferndale is hosting Free Comic Book Day from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday. The event will feature free comics, treats, face painting for kids, artist signings and more. Anyone in superhero and/or Mexican garb (for Cinco de Mayo!) will win special prizes. Learn more about the event here.

2. See Local Student Artwork

Artwork produced by local students who participated in the recent Congressional Art Competition will be on display at the on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A reception for the students, their teachers, families and friends will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the market. Check out the artwork this weekend and learn more about the competition here.

3. Garage Sale to Benefit Relay for Life of Ferndale

An all-team garage sale to benefit will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at , 427 Allen Street in Ferndale. Items will include furniture, clothing and more. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life. .

4. Mother's Day Mother and Son Party

Ferndale Recreation will host a mother and son party from 4-7 p.m. Saturday at the Kulick Community Center. This is open to boys ages 3 to 15 and will include games, refreshments, crafts, and a Magic Show by Magician Gordon Russ. Tickets are priced at $9. 5. Team Leroy + Go Comedy's Nerdly Wordly Fundraiser

Another way to support Relay for Life this weekend is the "Nerdly Wordly Fundraiser" on Sunday at in Ferndale. Spend an evening with games, laughter and friends to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Hosted by Team Leroy, doors open at 5 p.m. for pick-up Scrabble games, a silent auction, snacks and a cash bar. An improv show with the Go Comedy family honoring Dan Sicko wil begin at 7 p.m. Ages 21+. Price is $10 at the door. See .
