Treat Dreams Whips Up Special Pig & Whiskey Flavors

Find out what creative concoctions the Ferndale ice cream shop has created to accompany the celebration of barbecue and spirits July 19-21.

Treat Dreams will provide sweet treats to balance all of the savory meats during the Pig & Whiskey festival from Friday, July 19, through Sunday, July 21, in Ferndale.

The Ferndale ice cream shop has concocted several Pig & Whiskey-themed flavors including Bourbon Peach, with pecans and ginger snaps; Salted Caramel Bourbon; and Maple-Bacon Bourbon, manager Cheryl Allen said.

"We just kind of add bourbon. We just think of something good and add bourbon," she said of how the flavors were invented. 

Allen said the shop has served Maple-Bacon Bourbon and it was a top seller.

The Salted Caramel Bourbon and Maple-Bacon Bourbon will only be available at the Pig & Whiskey, while the Bourbon Peach will be available at Treat Dreams beginning July 14 and lasting until supplies run out, Allen said.

"We might have one secret flavor. I'm working on it, I don't know if it will work out," she added. "It will only be available at the festival."

The recently expanded Treat Dreams has provided ice cream for the festival since it launched three years ago – the same year as the ice cream shop opened, Allen said.

"We're growing the same as them," Allen said. "Everything's growing in Ferndale."
