New Belgian beer abbey opens in Royal Oak: After nine successful years, Café Habana has closed its doors to make way for Monk, a Belgian beer abbey, which was set to open Monday. Newcomer Monk offers unique chef-created burgers, mussels, frites, and waffle sandwiches. In addition to serving Bastone Brewery’s Belgian style craft beer, guests can expect an extensive bottled Belgian beer list as well as French wine selections.

DiBella's Subs opens in Troy: This new sub shop in Troy opened on Thursday to long lines and campers who had set up overnight for a chance to win a year's worth of free sandwiches. DiBella's Subs is a small chain of sandwich shops with 33 locations in six states.

Toast in Birmingham launches art garden: The first panels, which are now installed and ready to view, feature Detroit-inspired graffiti art from local expressionists. The project aims to prevent customers from having to look at the ongoing construction on Pierce Street while they enjoy their meals.

Caribou Coffee Shops in Royal Oak will be converted: The Caribou Coffee chain is closing and converting underperforming stores in Michigan and throughout the United States. According to a store employee, the Caribou Coffee shops in Royal Oak will remain open and convert to Peet's Coffee & Tea.
