Pinwheel Bakery Voted Best Place for a Pastry in Ferndale

A total of 81 readers voted in our poll, and many contributed reviews for their top choices.

came out on top with 44 percent of the votes, and Apple Fritter Donut Shop came in second with 33 percent of votes.

Ann St. Peter, owner of Pinwheel Bakery, said she thinks customers appreciate that the bakery's foods are fresh and not from a mix.

"We make it from start to finish," she said.

Popular items include cheese popovers - a savory egg and cheese breakfast item - and other breakfast choices.

"The breakfast stuff is really taking off," she said.

Pinwheel's scones are also popular - they aren't dry or crumbly like some other scones, St. Peter said, and a variety of flavors are available including cheddar rosemary and ginger poppy.

"They like the fact that the flavors are a lot different than the standard flavors," she said.
