New Way Bar in Ferndale Sold, Farewell Event Planned Today
Family says goodbye after owning bar for 78 years.
The owners of the New Way Bar in Ferndale are saying goodbye after 78 years with the community.
The bar, located at 23130 Woodward Avenue, has been sold to a new owner, the business announced this week in a message posted on its Facebook page:
"After 78 years in business, our family has made the difficult decision to sell the New Way Bar. We cordially invite all of the musicians who have played over the years to stop by and lay down the groove for us one last time! We also look forward to seeing all of our friends and customers for this bittersweet occasion. New Way Bar will continue to operate under new ownership."

"It's a sad day, that's for sure," owner Tina Kourtesis said in an interview Tuesday on Fox 2 News.
The all day/night Farewell Jam will start at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 27.
