Local Kitchen and Bar Looks to Open in July

Renovations are progressing for the casual new restaurant, where owner Rick Halberg says he'll use locally grown foods to make 'familiar food done extremely well.'

The wait is almost over for the new restaurant that's been rapidly taking shape at the location at 344 W. Nine Mile Road.

Rick Halberg, the owner and chef for the , says the casual restaurant is looking to open sometime in July.

"We have about three to four more weeks," said Halberg, who owned the upscale Emily's restaurant in Northville, which closed in December.

Local Kitchen and Bar will feature a wood-burning fireplace in front and extensive space for outdoor dining, he said.

Halberg said in February he wanted to open a more casual restaurant and found Ferndale to be the perfect location. He - which will feature “familiar food done extremely well” including “a fantastic burger, super-fresh seafood and fish,” along with craft and local beer.
