Lisa D's Divine Treats to Open in Downtown Ferndale

"Everyone in Ferndale has been excellent and willing to help me. It's like a family," says owner Lisa Davis, who plans to hold a soft opening for the sweets shop next week and a grand opening May 30.

Work was underway Friday evening to spruce up Lisa D's Divine Treats at 212 W. Nine Mile, formerly Karizma Couture, in downtown Ferndale.

Owner Lisa Davis said she hopes to hold a soft opening for the sweets shop next week, pending the arrival of a display case, and a grand opening May 30. Lisa D's Divine Treats will offer handmade novelty chocolates in different shapes and flavor mixtures, bulk candy, and gift baskets, she said.

"So far, everyone in Ferndale has been excellent and willing to help me. It's like a family," Davis said. "I'm really loving it."

Davis, who formerly worked in the banking industry and recently wrote her first book "Spending Time With Grandma," said she chose to locate in Ferndale because she wanted to stay close to her in-home child care business Our Future Daycare in Southfield.

"I'm getting older – I'm 51 – and getting up and down with the kids, I thought, 'well, it's time for a change,' " Davis said, adding that she will continue to run her day care for now, but wanted to prepare for her future by launching the Ferndale sweets shop.
