Is Metro Times Moving to Ferndale?

The alternative weekly tabloid will move to a leased space along Eight Mile Road, according to one local report.

Metro Times, the Detroit area's free alternative weekly tabloid, soon will relocate to Ferndale, according to a report.

The publication will move from Detroit to a space along Eight Mile Road in Ferndale, according to Deadline Detroit. Metro Times Publisher Chris Sexson could not immediately be reached for comment; stay tuned for an update with his response.

Earlier this year, the Metro Times also expanded its popular Blowout music festival from its original home in Hamtramck to Ferndale.

"The move does not appear to be related to the announcement last month that Metro Times is for sale," Deadline Detroit reports. "The owner, Scranton, Pa.-based Times-Shamrock Communications, said it is selling the tabloid along with four other weekly publications to focus efforts on its businesses closer to home in Pennsylvania."
