HenriettaHaus Coffee Roasters Takes Second Place in Hatch Detroit Voting

The Rust Belt Market vendor was among the top four contestants; Batch Brewing Company takes top spot, $50,000 prize.

HenriettaHaus Coffee Roasters, a vendor at The Rust Belt Market in Ferndale, took second place Thursday in the 2013 Comerica Hatch Detroit contest.

Voters' No. 1 pick was Batch Brewing Company, which will receive a $50,000 grand prize courtesy of Comerica Bank, as well as a suite of professional services from Hatch Detroit sponsors. The announcement was made Aug. 29 at the Madison Building in Detroit.

Hatch Detroit is a small business incubator that lets voters determine which contestant will receive funding, exposure, education and mentoring.

"Just so you know, you got us to second place. That is not too shabby," HenriettaHaus Coffee Roasters posted on Facebook. "Thank you all so much for the support!"

The other finalists were Corktown Cinema and Spielhaus Toys.

“We’re so thrilled to have had so many great business ideas compete in this year’s competition and the support we’ve received from the public has been tremendous,” said Nick Gorga, co-founder of Hatch Detroit said in a press release.
