Local Kitchen and Bar Expands Hours for Weekend Brunch

The new downtown Ferndale restaurant is now open for brunch 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

A popular new restaurant in downtown Ferndale is expanding its hours to offer brunch.

Local Kitchen and Bar, which opened in August in the former Via Nove location at 344 W. Nine Mile Road, started offering brunch this weekend.

It is now open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays offering a brunch menu including French toast, eggs, omelets, scrambles, short rib hash, granola, oatmeal, fresh fruit and more. Some lunch-type options like sandwiches and a burger are also on the menu, said general manager Kim Drouillard.

After brunch ends at 3 p.m., Local reopens at 5 p.m. with its regular dinner menu.

The restaurant, which offers "familiar food done extremely well" and uses locally grown foods, has a wood-burning fireplace in front and space for outdoor dining. It is also now offering live entertainment by Sean Blackman and Wayne Gerard Thursday nights at 10 p.m. around the fire.
